Story
Here we collaborate with the Hernández family from San José de Gracia, Michoacán. This town is known for its beautiful clay pineapples. We are fascinated by the techniques that bring these pieces to life. One is pastillaje, another is glazing, which was introduced by the Spanish in the 16th century and involves firing clay at higher temperatures using kilns. They also brought the glazes that give them their special color and shine.
